Initially bought this for my elderly father to try, but before I gave it to him I brought it over to my girlfriends house to try for the weekend to see if SHE might enjoy it. Must confess I was skeptical about this foot pad and what it claims to do, but it really was simple to use and felt like someone was massaging my feet. As I increased the level could feel the massage climbing to my ankles and calves. I used it while sitting down rather than standing up since nothing was said about which is best. It was not at all painful. I could feel it working and it was relaxing. My first time I took it up to level 10 and think next time I'll see how it does at a higher level. My feet were really aching and afterwards could tell they were more relaxed and not as painful so can't wait to try it again this evening. Ordered another to give as a Christmas gift to a relative.

For the price, I didn't expect much, but was very happily surprised. The instructions were kind of a head scratcher, but I figured most of it out. I have edema and peripheral neuropathy, my husband severe edema, so thought I'd give this a shot to see what it could do. I do have a couple of tips after some trial and error. First, make sure the mat is on a hard floor surface, NOT a carpet, and be in your bare feet. We both got lots more sensation standing on the mat as opposed to using it sitting in a chair. It took awhile for both of us to feel any energy coming off the mat at first, so stick with the entire routine (15-20 minutes) and adjust the intensity upward until you can feel something. Hold down the center (mode/on-off) button for 2 seconds to turn it on, then press the + button to up the intensity or the - button to lower it. You can stand on the mat, then turn it on, or turn it on and quickly (within 10 seconds) step on the mat. It recharges rather quickly when you plug it in to the USB port. I do like that it isn't tethered to a long cord; very portable and lets you find a good spot that may not be close to an outlet. MODES: (they're listed in a picture in the product description below the Amazon order information). Massage, knead, scraping, pressure, acupoint, cupping, activate and shape. Activate is a massage mode, nothing to do with turning the unit off or on, I discovered. Once you press the center (mode) button for TWO SECONDS to turn the unit on, press the center (mode) button ONCE QUICKLY to cycle through the various modes. The mode name will be in tiny red letters on the face of the hard plastic pod. ALSO NOTE that when the unit's on and you change modes, the intensity will reset to 0 and you'll have to use the + button to get to the intensity you want. I wouldn't call this a foot massager, more like a TENS machine for feet and lower legs. After my 2nd use, no edema swelling in my calves and my feet functioned better. I got the muscle clenching/unclenching to just above my knees on level 5, but my husband can still only feel tingles in his soles and on the top of a couple of toes, even at level 19. However, the first time he barely felt anything at all, so that's progress. All in all, I consider this a very good investment and sure do appreciate the relief!
